ok my router syncs at 4339 and think from what i have seen, that should give me a profile of 3500Kbps but this is the BT speed test and has been like this for a week

Download speedachieved during the test was - 3022 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 1200-4000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4339 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 943 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 20.48:18.82:60.7 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

Now have BT changed how your profile is calculated

from Kitz
Sync
from to ipProfile
4000 kbps 4512 kbps 3500

Well you are right that it should be 3500kbps. Shhhh!

BT 21CN DLM - very buggy. But I don't remember seeing this one before.

But it's not giving him any more actual throughput, which is more in line anyway with a 3500 profile, isn't it?

I agree, I saw that, but we don't know the ISP and it wasn't a good time for speed tests.

I wasn't in the mood for going that deep into it.

I experienced this many years ago and on more than one occasion. I found that this use to bork the DLM when i use to use the DMT tool quite a lot to tweak my line. In my experience the DMT tool on my line although gave good results occasionally would bork the DLM. The down side was when once i had a faulty router which causd my sync to lower. In them days it was impossible for having the line re-set by the isp manually when the customer had corrected the fault on their side. This then took a very long time eg upto 30 days for the auto dlm process to correct it self. I no longer use the DMT tool to tweak my line.

Have you been using the DMT tool or someting else to twaek your line for a better sync?
