Router uptime question

[link to this post]

How long is it reasonable for a router to stay “up”? Mine tends to need a reboot after 9-10 days. TIA, Jas smile

I doubt if I'll be able to help, but others might find a bit more information to be useful.

What router is it, and what are the symptoms that require a reboot?

I've had routers stay up for months at a time, a reboot was only usually required when I did some injudicious fiddling crazy

If you describe the problems, also tell us the router, ISP and exchange, we may be able to help.

If they asked you to do that so long ago that you are now asking here the question you do, it doesn't sound as though their monitoring is coming up with anything tongue.

I am disappointed in a router if it needs rebooting without me having fiddled with it first.

Currently my router has been up for 7 days, and that only because I was playing with the firewall and connection settings last weekend, prior to that it had been on for over a year (in part due to the UPS it is connected too).

I have only had two routers that needed regular reboots.

A Belkin router, and a Trust router.

The trust router was stable enough until I started trying to do to much with it at once.

Months ... why should a router need rebooting?

I have had router up for 6 months without problems - and then they are only powered down for another reason such as tidying cabling, or rewiring a phone connection ...
