This is a newly activated very long line, we are trying to see if it is possible to get a service but not overly optimistic.
But we have found that when a phone is plugged in via an adsl filter they do not dial correctly. Incoming calls are OK, we get a dialing tone, but if we dial a number we get nothing but silence. Tried 3 filters, 2 phones, one DECT, one normal, with and without one of 2 routers plugged in and without router, all using the test socket, no luck.
It sounds the same problem as This and he claimed to fix it by swapping lines 2 and 5 - I assume that in practice this means swapping A & B.
How do we check if they are the correct way round and would we be foolish to correct it if they are wrong?
The router does not get any sync. Before we were aware of the phone problem we contacted our ISP who asked to leave router connected. But In order to keep a working phone we have had to disconnect the router, so will this upset any tests the ISP carry out.
