Are thinkbroadband speed testers accurate?

[link to this post]

Hi all

Just moved over to sky(I know) and if I rely on the speed tester here I am getting 1.7mb at the moment. If I use the tbbmeter(thinkbroadband) I get the same but only if I use the normal speed test.

If I use the multiple thread download on tbb meter or dl a 100mb test .bin file from elsewhere I get 3000kbps. even the btspeedtester.com is saying 2800kbps

Why is this?

Thanks

Rob

The standard tbb speed test sends you a single stream/thread. The others are multi-stream/thread. Each method is relevant for different purposes.

My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.
