Monthly GB Usage Caps & Web Cam Broadcasting Usage...

[link to this post]

Hiya, I'm looking to change my ISP. I've been with Pipex/Tiscali/TT for the last 7 years and I'm currently on a 1MB connection. I want to upgrade my connection.

When looking at other options a lot of packages have monthly download limits. My partner uses Yahoo Messenger / web cam to keep in touch with her family & friends abroad.

My question is, approximately how much download bandwidth does an hour's worth of web cam broadcasting use?

Many thanks.......

Without knowing what quality they are broadcasting and receiving at, it is hard to give accurate figures.

if we assume sending at 300Kbps, and receiving at 300Kbps, that is actually 270MB (MegaBytes) every hour. If the ISP only counts download traffic for its usage counter, then halve the figure

Since your on talktalk already and worried about usage you could try talktalks unlimited package its very cheap for a decent service.

Thanks for the replies. The GB calculation gives me an idea of the usage.
I'l take a look at the various options available at my exchange and see what I can find.......

Thanks again fellas!
