Phone cutting DSL off

[link to this post]

Good evening, I'm sure where to post this so I'll start here.

Have a very stable connection with Sky [15Mbit] for several years, both wired and wireless on two PC's in the house but never used a phone as the line was DSL only. Recently connected a phone on the line and problems started in the form of DSL cutting off and losing sync, usually just after the phone is called or even put down. Took the phone off, and it's fine.

I am plugged into the master socket with a filter which had been changed twice - DSL is fine on it's own as is the phone but both together will not work in a stable manner.

I'm not sure where to go from here - any ideas?

Thank you - Blue

Quiet line test (from a BT line generally 17070 option 2). Any noise?

Try a different phone. Is the phone wired or wireless?

Hi John, the original phone was a wireless set up but for the purpose of sorting this out, I'm using a wired handset.

I tried the quiet line test this morning and it was very quite with no audible noise what so ever. I still feel the issue is in the house but I can't figure out what!

Bemused tongue

How does a phone and ADSL into a filter into the test socket perform?

And have you verified no other sockets work when doing the above

Hi Andrew, when you say 'test socket' do you mean the master on the wall, or the one inside the actual master plate?

The one inside the master socket is the test socket.

Hi guys, I seem to have a square master socket which is one piece, hence no test socket inside just the normal outside option - if it's matters, it's the six way wire option and they are all wired in - I have checked online and they are in the right places!

So, filter, and wired phone and router but still cuts out - I'm clearly missing something here. No other extensions in the house btw...

Thanks again - Blue

So wire from the outside world comes into this single one socket? No old wiring.

If that is the case and has been wired properly, should be just two wires going to terminals A & B.

Hi Andrew, should I disconnect the other four wires? They are wired in correctly for neatness I assume, but could they be hindering the issue?

Two and five I'm led to believe are the important ones...

Thanks - Blue
