My brother has been with sky for a year now since the exchange got FTTC enabled hes looking into going to BT but a few questions if i please smile

1. His phone line is connected via a pole does this matter or go underground at the end of the road?..

2. How far are the cabinets located as Ive had a drive around and cannot see any new cabinets..

reason im asking is I seen a live date of 31st december then it was 31st of march now its live

The 31st dates are just placeholders.

Does his phone number say he can get it in the BT ADSL checker? If not, does any near neighbour's who is on BT?

Do you know where his cab is? There should be a new one close by for FTTC.

It doesn't matter if it's pole or underground.
The cabs are somewhere between him and the exchange..

What does http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome say when you enter the phone number of the line.

Ignore any response based on postcode

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 40Mbps and upstream line speed of 10Mbps

You know there are lots of suppliers of FTTC as well as BT? Infinity is just their product name, like on ADSLx it is Total Broadband.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - Plusnet Value Fibre.

He may want to wait until April when Sky launch their FTTC product. It'll be like the unlimited package now, no throttling like on Infinity and no FUP.

Should read some of my posts where I debunk this myth of infinity being throttled.
