Questions! (O2, BE, 8mb and traffic management)

[link to this post]

Ok so questions, sorry for 3 threads, I have a habit of making lots of threads.

1) O2 or BE? O2 is significantly cheaper and since with our line we'll get 8mb I'm not sure the up to 20 megs and up to 24 megs will make a difference.

2) Can I watch a HD Youtube Vid 720p without effecting latency? (So my ping is 10ms which not loading the video, if I do load it, will it increase? a.k.a one perosn can watch a vid and the other can game without effecting each other.)

3) I'm still not sure, I've received mixed answers to this - Does MW3 use peer to peer file sharing? Because O2 limits my file sharing to 0.1 megs.

4) The O2 All rounder package says the maximum speed I can get is 8mb and I've heard from many sources that my line can handle up to 7mb-8mb. So am I right in saying that the unlimited download speed package (The Works) is useless to me?

Ok, thanks

You could try BE on a 3 month contract and let us know how you got on or on another tack tell us what is available from your exchange, as you mention you have a line which should provide a connection speed of up to 8Mbps.

1. That is your call. Be has no traffic management, O2 does.

2. See what I said at http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/general/t/4099232-r...

3. Swear I covered this elsewhere and you read it, MW3 gameplay is NOT P2P torrent traffic

The thing is I've been recieving mixed replies.

If I cannot watch a 720p , what about a 360p? Relieved mixed replies for this too...

Mixed because there are MANY variables, 720p at 5 Mbps would cause a problem.

A 360p might be okay but depends on how it is delivered, so answer varies according to the bandwidth, delivery method, your PC, your router, your ISP etc etc

Only way for a gamer to have a good connection is to have the service to themselves, and the ISP to run perfectly

Ok, well then I'll have to wait and see then. One last thing though, is copper wires or cable better for latency?

No practical difference.
