USO or UFO?

[link to this post]

Will there ever be a USO for UK broadband (if not why not) or is one more likely to see a UFO flying over the 2012 Olympic Stadium? tongue

USO - as time goes on ever more unlikely, as the growing number of altnets for broadband, make it harder to push through, i.e. opposition to it, in case it favours one provider

A USO would likely be an EU thing, not sure we can do that on our own legally.

Why not ? who to place the Obligation on. Avanti satellite ? sorted.

How would you define a USO in terms of service and coverage. How should it be funded - a levy on all broadband ? phone line tax ? etc.

@ yarwell and MrSaffron

Yes I agree and to put it in simplistic terms it would be difficult to set a USO up as there are too many links (weak?) in the chain by which the broadband signal has to travel before the data exits from the customer's router.
