ISP says 12 months contract but the agent didn't explain!

Hi

Just got off the phone from my ISP with a view to leaving them.

They says my contract is 12 months but I am adamant this wasn't explained to me as I wouldn't have signed up to 12 months, the reasoning being I planned to leave after 1 month once I had my phone back on BT but I hung around for 4 months.

So, the agent says his system says I was verbally told this, I said I wouldn't have signed up if I was told 12 months. I don't have anything on paper that says 12 months so he is going to try and get the call recording.

Anyone else experienced this situation? Any advice on where I stand and next steps?

Umm! Did you not read their Legal Stuff on their website 1st?

Or at least within Cooling-Off Period?
