Router Compatibility Problem with Windows 8

[link to this post]

Since upgrading my main Windows PC to Windows 8, my life has been a long router compatibility nightmare with both my Fritzbox and Billion 7800N. Router dropping sync regularly, no broadband on the W8 PC while the iMac is happily streaming, along with a return of the old false 'No Internet' icon on the toolbar.

After mega hassle at around 4.00pm on the 16th, I switched back to my Draytek Vigor 120 modem driving the Apple Airport Extreme. Just look at the difference from then on considering I was streaming F1 2nd practice for an hour and a half at peak evening time. The Draytek/Airport combination is much more compatible, but I cannot control snr or run routerstats like the Billion. No more false icons either!

No reason for PC to affect router's sync, esp. if Mac is running nicely, but might not be able to connect to working router due to something on PC.

Yes, but obviously neither were working when the Billion was was fell over, but the main point is the far better ping and stability with the with the Draytek/Airport.
Peak time thursday

Router fell over apart, I said the W8 PC was at times showing the common false 'No Internet' icon on the toolbar when in actual fact all was well and it was actually streaming from the web. I also said, there were many times when the W8 PC would simply not browse the web when in fact all was well and the iMac was hooking up ok. So three problems (not counting TBB) all cured by switching back to the Express Extreme.
Not as badly effected as some!

None of your tbb ping test links work. You need to pick up the link using one or other of the Share buttons below it.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.5/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

They are no longer working because I stopped the monitor as this thread had fizzled out, though I did not realise that unlike speedtest net it would wipe old records. like others I still have a few problems on the W8 machine despite the stability of the Airport Extreme. For instance, it would not stream the F1 in Firefox via Vipbox for longer than a minute, while the same stream was happy in Firefox on the iMac. The W8 box was quite happy with that and the streamall.eu stream in IE.
I did wonder if it was specific to the Dell XPS8300 as other owners were among those with network problems. I proved the XPS network card innocent via going wireless. In the end stuck with streamall.eu and the iMac. I am fairly sure the recent W8 update is the culprit, so I live in hope that another will sort it.
