Court Orders UK ISPs to Block Kickass Torrents, H33T, Fenopy

[link to this post]

I can't see this being of the front page of TB, so here is some other news. smile

The website blocking phenomenon has continued today in the UK, with the High Court adding three major torrent sites to the country’s unofficial ban list. Following complaints from the music industry led by the BPI, the Court ordered the UK’s leading Internet service providers to begin censoring subscriber access to Kickass Torrents, H33T and Fenopy.

I can still access KAT. I assume that even though BT own's plusnet, plusnet don't have to block the same as BT do?

Plusnet Extra Fibre.
I don't use wireless and is disabled. Current Router = TL-R402M

I would assume that the Defendant (2) BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS PLC would apply to the whole Group.

I would imagine there is a compliance deadline in the ruling ?

I see now they didnt contest ok.

Not heard of any of these sites but according to that article they just host torrents not illegal content.

BT Infinity 2 Since Dec 2012 - Estimate 65.9/20 - Attainable peak 110/36 - Current Sync 71/20

Problem is, most if not all torrent sites, don't host copyright material, just a torrent but they are still targeted, just linking to them.

The same could be said for Google, as they link to copyrighted content but I don't see Google, getting sued or blocked because of it.

Yes maybe but PN have told me in the past, they work separately to BT.

Only way is, maybe to ask PN that question and see what they say. smile

Google's primary purpose is not the distribution of torrent links, unlike KAT for example. Even a judge would see the difference. Google doesn't even host the links it only provides search results on demand.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2013/feb/28/online-p... says "The ISPs have been given 15 working days to block access to the sites." (found via Google, LOL)

I've no need! I know what constitutes a legal entity.

PN may operate separately but they are still part of the PLC as are Openreach to whom this ruling equally applies if they ever started routing requests to the blocked sites LOL!

I notice Defendant (5) TELEFÓNICA UK LIMITED.

So, by your logic the ban, at present, does not apply to O2 or Be?
