Line capable of 21CN or LLU but stuck on ADSL1

[link to this post]

yet another friend has asked me for advice, he moved to a new property yesterday but shares utilities, the previous tenants have lived there 3 years.

He lives in Ibrox area of Glasgow where there is a few llu operators available and 21CN yet when he speedtests he gets 6.8 meg and 0.3 up which sounds capped to me.

The broadband is with Orange, is it a case of ideally ringing up Orange and getting transferred or would they have to cancel and reorder?

But what are his router stats? He could be too far from exchange to benefit from ADSL2+.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC - BQM

No idea, but he is about 350 metres from the exchange and all the checkers say 17-19 meg

MaxDSL - goes as fast as it can and doesn't read the line checker first.
