Expected Speeds?

[link to this post]

Hi,

My Sky ADSL has been activated today, line stats below. I'm aware that the speed should rise over the next few days as part of Sky's provisioning process. Any ideas what speeds I can expect? From my house to the exchange is roughly 1 mile by road.

Line stats:
Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4089 kbps 605 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.0 dB 17.3 dB
Noise Margin 15.5 dB 18.18 dB

EDIT: it's Sky LLU

Expect about 16 Meg, but Sky start you off on 4 Meg.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC

OK, so BT managed to cut my line off and have just been to fix it, apparently my number got moved to the wrong cabinet or something.

Stats are now:

Broadband Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 13409 kbps 1064 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 dB 23.5 dB
Noise Margin 6.1 dB 7.7 dB

Should this rise again at some point or will I have to contact Sky to get the line put back into "training"?

Cheers,

Lee

The attenuation has changed dramatically so the line is around 1km longer

8700Kbps to 12000Kbps
http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/calc/index.php?param=RG...

Training cannot alter the attenuation, that is factor of the line length and quality of cable. In short your physical line has moved not just the virtual number.
