Do openreach/ BT engineers work 24/7 ?

[link to this post]

I have a line fault that needs to be fixed. It was reported a yesterday (I think). The ISP said it can take up to 72 hours. I'm wondering will there be engineers working on a saturday?

Thanks mate.

I have another question.. not sure I need to start a new thread or not.. but when looking up the line fault on the BT site, it shows that the fault was reported on the friday (even though the actual line fault was happening from the 31st when Sky took over my Internet from Be (I pay BT line rental). But it asks for an account number to see more details. Is this my BT account number or is this some number they would have given Sky when they reported the fault? I've tried entering my BT account number but it doesnt accept it.

Hi, yes they definitely work Saturdays and (sometimes) Sundays.... Although I would guess your fault will probably be picked up on Monday morning

Some of 'em have only done a half days overtime today wink

Plenty in Saturdays, many of whom will be rostered to work. Quiet a few in Sundays also, but that's just on overtime.

Business or residential?

Any business line faults are likely to be dealt with first as they may have a Next Day/Next Business/4hour/8hour response time. When those are cleared residential faults will be looked at. However if there is a fault common to several lines then all may be done at the same time.

In reply to a post by bowdon:
But it asks for an account number to see more details
If it is your BT line I'd expect it can only be your BT a/c #.

EDIT: Why not login to your MyBT online account and approach it from there, under My BT/ Track an Order/ Faults?

It could be Sky's Openreach account number, for the details that ISPs have given them.
