Broadband speed test - why does http x6 comes out as 0Mb/s?

[link to this post]

Can anyone explain why I get this result when I do the broadband speed test?

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html...

HTTP x6 download test reads ZERO. I frequently have trouble with my broadband connection dropping out, and wondered if this is diagnostic of what might be going on?

The only way to fix it seems to be to turn everything off (PC and router) and then on again.

Many thanks!

Do you mean turning off the PC and turning it back on fixes the problem with the speed test too?

How does http://labs.thinkbroadband.com/ispa similar methodology but does not use Flash but the same data file server. So if that works it points to a flash/av/firewall issue maybe on the PC.

The test files come from a different server than the flash itself does.

Haven't tried that yet. Will let you know when I do.

However, with the other test, I just get upload results (0.33 Mbps), not http x6.

Can you link to the test results again.

When you say you don't get httpx6 you mean the result is zero?

OK - I turned it off and on again, and got exactly the same result (pretty much):

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html...

http x6 is still close to zero (0.01mbps - burst 0.03mbps).

wrt the other (non-flash) test you mentioned - I didn't get any results for download, just the upload result.

I don't think this reflects a fault on the line, but you have some AV/firewall software that is blocking the data requests.

I thought it might be something like that, but my partner has the same issue on his PC too (when things are snail's pace on mine, they generally are on his too), and he uses different software to me. But if it is that, can you recommend any AV/firewall software that won't slow everything down?

But I still don't understand why the http x6 test is coming out as zero...
