Does fibre also bring 21CN?

[link to this post]

My exchange (Slinfold) will be upgraded with fibre this year but this won't benefit my property. I just wondered will they also have to install 21CN kit?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on which exchange fibre is connected too. Eg Falmouth takes fibre feed for 8 smaller exchanges

Even if they do you won't gain much if only on 4Mbps now.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

A max of 1.3mbps dependant on quality and length.

on 4 you are likely to get a sync of about 986kbps - my parents do and they have 4mbps right now so I am assuming you are around 1.83KM from your exchange too?

I presume their attenuation was above 45dB then?

4Mbps at 1.8 km is slow

I think it was.

This was compounded however by Plusnet (I think).. On my dads product change it said he was on 4mbps but if he changed to their new unlimited plan he would get 6 (which he used to get when he joined) and I screenshotted this for future. As he was paying £19,49 and getting less than someone paying less.

When his product change has completed I will have another look. I can't even remote in because his upload is 380kbps where it should (and has been when he joined) 990kbps

After taking 2 days to download 32GB it's the straw that broke the camel's back and now he is hell bent on getting fibre, which is good considering it's in testing for a December rollout. 3 cabs 680 houses, happy days.

That area has always been a weird one.. 11 years ago Virgin dug through the entire town but to my knowledge they never sent the mouse down to cable it. It certainly is not a service area

My small 20CN exchange has just been upgraded for FTTC - but there's no 21CN services available.

ADSL or VDSL(FTTC) are on offer.

What sort of shonky remote access are you using that 380kbps is not enough?!?
