Bright Box connection problem.

[link to this post]

I have recently installed a Bright Box 1 router. My android tablets and xp PC all connect to the internet no problem. My vista laptop shows it is wi fi connected to the hub with an excellent signal but is showing a local only status with no internet. It worked fine with my old router. Any suggestions?

Are you acquainted with the command line interface on Vista, as you can get more diagnostic help from there? (Use Win key + R and tell it to run cmd, or use the 'run' menu option)
route print will give the current routes set up
ping or tracert can show whether external routing works and whether there is a dns problem.
I don't know what you know, so you may need to ask for more help

Check for a static IP address as a start. Ensure the machine is set to use DHCP

Hi Derek. Sounds as if you might be able to help me. I have used command line a bit before but will need some fairly specific type lines and what to do with the info recieved, if you have time. Cheers, John.
