G.Fast coming late 2017

[link to this post]

Not sure if this is news..but i've just been forwarded this and thought I'd share..

Work on deploying the OSS has started and BT will start rolling out Nokia G.Fast to the market in late 2017

Early lab tests with BT certainly suggested that this, then unproven technology, could deliver the performance they were looking for and so larger field trials were organized. The first was a successful but limited proof of concept in Hethersett, Cambridgeshire, followed by two much larger trials reaching more than 1000 homes in Gosforth NE England and a smaller number of business and residential properties in Swansea, South Wales. These revealed that by utilizing BTís existing copper assets, they could deliver consistent speeds of up to 330 MBps at 300 meters.

Interesting. No, as it's a screenshot of their intranet site.

This is the closest I could find on their website.

It looks like the internal Nokia information is focussed on the real roll-out, even beyond the "extra trials" going on in early 2017.

I'll add these additional links from outside Nokia:

and

It looks like they are still waiting on chipsets that meet amendment 2 - which is what makes the longer range possible.

My understanding was that BT is extending it's pilot to 17 locations in Jan 2017 with an expected rollout in the later half of 2017
