WBC FTTC 18x2 Sim Availability

[link to this post]

Hi folks.

Do any isp offer this? I've just been moved to a new cabinet and its now live. It says i'll get around 10-12mbps with fibre so this would be a great option if i could find an isp that offer it, if any.

I understand cabinets need to be enabled for this type of profile so it could just be the case that my own is not enabled yet. It does however show a "yes"

Thanks
Michael

I think Sky may offer it, but only if you're invited.

Could be wrong though.

The BT Faster Broadband is/was normally the 40/10 or maybe the new 55/10. Are you saying it is now the 18/2?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. Sync 71288/12440Kbps @ 600m. BQMs - IPv4 & IPv6

I've seen some on 40/2.

Seen a few on faster total broadband syncing at 22-25meg, with a max attainable of 4meg ish upstream but capped at 2.

The mods on the BT forum sorted it out onto a 40 or 55/10

People I know who have VDSL with down speeds of 3, 4, 5 Mbps and up of about 1 to 1.5 seem to be provisioned on an 18/2 service. Running a BT wholesale test will show the provisioned UP stream rate - for you and me probably 20 Mbps, for them just 2 Mbps.

Does it actually matter for te OP? He wants someone that will give him FTTC on a fairly slow line. Most ISPs will not normally consider it and BT will often say not to Infinity when forecasts are under 15.

According to bt checker fibre isn't available, it might not have updated on their website yet. Plusnet shows fibre available at my address which is odd, i assumed bt would be right in there trying to get me as a customer, same with sky.

I'll try their live chat also and see what they say, thanks for the tip.

That's fair enough. But what about those on say 14Mbps, who may well benefit from an nn/10 product?

Is the 18/2 cheaper to the end user?
