More experiments

[link to this post]

Having concluded my modem cable experiment I have picked up a ZyXEL VMG3925-B10B from eBay. It was formally issued by Kcom but is not locked down or anything. I have read good reports on sync speeds. My ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A gave me a further 7 meg over the TP-Link TD-W9970 taking speed up to 79 Mbps with Billion 8800NL R2 cable so time to test a slightly newer router as the VMG1312-B10A is now discontinued.

Got my 3925 today but it syncs 2 meg lower than the 1312. Tried it a couple of times but only get max sync of 76 so will keep it as a spare as it has dual wifi.

Vince (mr..telephone) states that he will be reopening his ebay shop on Tuesday 29th Aug so it still might be worth getting a top quality CAT5 or CAT6 rj11 to rj45 lead from him.

I've got one of his CAT5 (solid core) rj11 to rj11 leads and at some point I may remove one of the rj11 plugs and hardwire one end to my Mk3 faceplate's A&B terminals. Hardwiring CAT6 to a Mk4 plate could be tricky though if you do restart your experiments smile
