Huawei EchoLife HG612 - Is G.INP Enabled?

[link to this post]

Hello I'm using a Huawei EchoLife HG612 modem that's unlocked & seems to work perfectly with latest firmware that should support G.INP - I'm on a Huawei cab. Is here any way from the limited stats the modem gives whether G.INP is enabled or not?

I have used the HG612 for quite a while in its unlocked state which as I understand did not support G.INP. I do prefer separate modem Ė router - itís nice now to be able to see line stats now itís unlocked.

The presence of Bearer 1 is a give-away.

What do you mean - limited stats?

Where would I fine Bearer 1? plz? BTW it's only been unlocked a day or so. Stats are somewhat limited in comparison to an Aus 68 modem router for example?

Full stats are available through telnet.

I assume you're referring to the web interface which is known to be wrong but if you goto Status > WAN > xDSL, you should see Path 0 and Path 1 on Statistics at the bottom.

Hello: Looked in tenet & found:

Max: Upstream rate = 28707 Kbps, Downstream rate = 72320 Kbps
Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps, Downstream rate = 71866 Kbps
Can I assume G.INP is not enabled?

If you don't see

Max: Upstream rate = 28707 Kbps, Downstream rate = 72320 Kbps

No it's not there - All references to bearer have 0 - And for the final stupid question, is G.INP liable to be applied at some time? Is it because the modem was not G.INP enabled? I assume there is nothing I can do about this. I do know itís a Huawei cabinet as Iíve been in it when the cab lost the plot in the summer & needed a new card, had a cup of tea with the OpenReach men after midnight, you can see how far the cab is away as my cat was in the tent with the OR guys.
BTW replies are much appreciated smile

Yes, it will be applied some time when DLM gets round to it, as long as it's a Huawei cab. Which exchange are you on?

When was the modem not G.INP enabled?

Bearer: 0, Upstream rate = 19999 Kbps, Downstream rate = 71866 Kbps
Bearer: 1, Upstream rate = 0 Kbps, Downstream rate = 0 Kbps

then G.INP isn't enabled.

I am now confused. I have a Billion 8800NL. The GUI is currently showing:

B0 Traffic Type PTM
B0 Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps) 19999
B0 Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps) 75414
B1 Traffic Type Inactive
B1 Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps) 0
B1 Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps) 0

However, it is also showing:

D (interleaver depth) 8 1
I (interleaver block size in bytes) 254 127
N (RS codeword size) 254 254
Delay (msec) 0 0
INP (DMT symbol) 48.00 0.00

According to a G.INP guide at https://www.increasebroadbandspeed.co.uk/g.inp, "It is possible to tell that G.INP has been implemented from your modem statistics, [. . . . . . ]. You can detect the existence of G.INP if the INP (DMT symbol) value is set to 48.0, with an interval depth or 8 or 16."

So my stats show B1 as inactive but the INP (DMT symbol) as 48 downstream with an interleave depth of 8.

Am I reading the stats correctly and getting the message that Bearer 1 is inactive but also G.INP is enabled for downstream (as per the linked report and contrary to BatBoy's statement) or am I reading things wrongly and BatBoy is correct that Bearer 1 is inactive so G.INP cannot be enabled?

and then

Bearer 0

Seems to have been a common issue recently on Huawei cabs from what I've seen.

Some lines have seen it disappear and not return and DLM seems to be going with interleaving over G.INP on new lines.

Bearer 1 is showing as 0Mbps because it connects at 200bps or 200kbps, I forget which. Rounded = 0Mbps.

The fact it is shown means it is active on the downstream. End of smile.

Currently on Fast Path both downstream and upstream. You don't need G.INP.

Explanation - D(epth) of interleaving is 1, which means that each packet's data is spread over one packet. I.e. it isn't interleaved.

It rarely ever resyncs, unless DLM does something.

Very interesting, I thought 1/1 on the interleaving meant it was enabled doh!
