It's now ordered, engineer scheduled at the cabinet 9/1/18

It'll be around a month from digging the hole/build to first connection (I assume I'm the first as it only went live yesterday).

Very happy with the response from Openreach (Clive Selley for the initial escalation and the Chief Engineer / FTTP Escalations Managers area who managed the build).

Speed estimation is around 65mb which is 10x the current speed so that'll do nicely smile

So it switched over automatically this morning and now I'm getting 80mb down 20mb up (Zen report 19999d 77433u - but it's close enough!)

Quality monitor shows a drop in latency and spikes smile

It appears to be o.k. at the moment - although I expect some changes in the first 10 days.

@ kebabselector congratulations!!!

This is the response I got:

Having investigated this issue for you and spoken to our specialist teams I am afraid that the answer I am going to give you is no different to that in which you have received previously.

As you are aware you receive your service from Stechford exchange which was upgraded to deliver fibre broadband using mainly our Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) technology as part of our commercial deployment plan. Many premises connected to it are within reach of the service - this shows the significant investment we’ve made in the area.

However, we’ve been clear in our communications that our rollout programme is strictly commercial and we can only upgrade those cabinets that are viable. Unfortunately, I regret to advise that cabinet 24 (which you're connected to) isn’t currently included in any of our plans because it has a relatively small number of working lines connected to it which unfortunately makes it commercially unviable to upgrade.

Back in 2015 we announced that Openreach will make fibre broadband available to a further 360,000 homes and businesses. This will take availability of fibre optic services for homes and small businesses beyond the current 95% coverage by the end of 2017. This means that even more premises will be able to access modern internet services, including business and educational applications and high-definition video. Openreach remains determined to boost broadband speeds for those on the slowest connections – but overall, London leads many other cities.

Sadly your area is not included in our current plans but we continue to keep all areas that are not yet upgraded under close review in case circumstances change in the future.

Our pledge and Community Fibre Partnerships

Separately, we have pledged to extend fibre broadband for the remaining few percent of UK premises that are unlikely to be covered by public or private commercial plans. This will involve engaging with local communities to explore innovative funding and technical solutions.

It may help if I explain that in more than 200 locations we have worked with the communities directly and are delivering fibre broadband sooner than otherwise would be possible. These solutions are usually better suited for areas that are not in any commercial or public plans.

Our ambition is to ‘never say no’ and if the local community is interested in this option then more details can be found on BT’s Community Fibre Partnership website below:

http://www.communityfibre.bt.com/

I am truly sorry that this is not the answer in which you want to hear and appreciate that it must be frustrating for you; but currently the community funding is the only option available to your area unfortunately, this is subject to change though.

Should the FTTP in this post have been FTTC then?

Sorry to hear that Max, I have had similar emails from the automated rejection dept (probably) - it did take a few years before Clive Selley personally answered an email and escalated it.
