Has the address of the BTW tester changed since Thursday? http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ appears unavailable.

Thanks smile

Really only reliable for getting the IP Profile not as a speed tester anyway

True. But the BTW test is sometimes essential- even if itís not the most accurate tester around- so it canít have been scrapped. Fortunately, I don't need it at the moment.

New address?

Also down here East London and have reported it to BT.

I suspect they have taken it down due to they might be working on it, they did the same with the Wholesale DSL Checker when they upgraded that.

Their parent calling page is here: BTWholesale:Static:BroadbandSpeedTester just in case they change that actual page location.

Well BTW Speed Tester / Performance Checker isn't a good way to check your speed.

Yup and I am still getting the 1.8Gbps which is great lol.

So nothing was fixed then while it was down.

Ah well.

Happy to licence a copy of our tester, likely to be a lot cheaper than trying to fix their own code.

Still the usual ADSL slow speeds here, this time it's 2.22Mbps with an IP profile of 2.5Mbps can sometimes get an IP profile of 3.0Mbps when the connection feels like it tongue

Maybe so but it is the only tester the ISP will accept for evidence so they can pass it onto OR!

This is sadly true frown

So where it shows a way over the top speeds of 1.8 Gbps (especially for my FTTP connection) if I had a speed drop from max speed down to say lower than the 100 Mbps (i.e. the Minimum Speed) and BT asks me to try this checker I will be saying NO due to its already is broken due to it says I don't even have FTTP, I wonder what BT will say lol.

It could be worse, they might ask you to use Internet Explorer when using the speed test (As it's one of the only browsers that it works on properly).

I've noticed doing the BTW test in Microsoft Edge browser gives me the true speed of my line (more or less) yet doing it in Chrome gives me skewed results.

Microsoft Edge 1

Microsoft Edge 2

Google Chrome

It would be interesting to see if an old version of Chrome has the same issue. I know a lot of people who do live streaming have stopped using Chrome as it's got freezing issues lately.

Here is my connection tested in IE, Edge, FF, 2 versions of Chrome:

IE v11.461.16299.0

Edge v41.16299.461.0 (64bit)

FF v60.0.2 (64bit)

Chrome v67.0.3396.62 (64bit)

Chrome v67.0.3396.79 (64bit)

Just because the speed is way off with Chrome, doesn't mean it is a Chrome issue, its just a coincidence, it may well be a Chrome issue, but we cannot assume that until we have proof.

I say its the checker due to Speedtest.net shows my speeds correctly when using Chrome.

BT current response was the following:
Sorry about that, Paul. Please contact our FTTP repair team on 0800 800 151, they can check this further. ^Rita

I have done the odd live stream now and then and I use Chrome on Twitch, but Edge on YouTube, the reason being is that they have worked the best for those streaming providers.

But all browsers on Twitch buffers for me on Twitch when watching streams, but after a few hows it settles down.

For live streaming I don't use any browsers a browser is only used for the chat (sometimes)
