graphic card to run second life

hi

i have a 3/4 yr old dell xps,was running win xp now 7 .

graphics card has gone, can anyone recommend a card that will play second life well

here are the requirments for second life http://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/

The info given in your link seems to answer your question. Just decide your price point. Personally, I would avoid NVIDIA but then I don't do games.

Past experience, especially with Linux and Hauppauge apps. However, I tend to use low-end products so I may be wrong about more advanced stuff.

You would use ATI over nvidia in Linux? To each thier own I suppose. I will admit the radeon driver is better than nouvoux, but the ATI cats are nasty, whereas I have never had an issue with nvidias forceware

In the eternal war between nVidia and ATI, the latter seems to be the current soup of the day. Next month or whatever, who knows. smile

I would recommend this Radeon 6850 A nice mid range entry card. From the requirements of the game you want to run it will easily handle it. And it handles pretty much any other game out on very high settings. It's also quite light on power requirements so shouldn't push your existing psu too hard or anything like that. Runs cool and nice and quiet too.
