Possessor speed

[link to this post]

Could somebody tell me what are the fastest Intel prossessors, say the top five in descending order please? I may be changing my laptop in the near future and it is useful to know the speed of the prossessors. I know there are other factors to take into account of course.

For a laptop or a desktop? The processors are very different between the two normally (laptops using desktop procs tend to run very hot).

Define fastest: Bus speed? FLOPS?

You need to consider clock speed, memory bus speed, on-chip cache, number of cores and more.
