I have seen posts like that from 2017. People often just had to wait for a position to come up.

I think they did. I seem to remember someone waiting for a few months.

Alright mate,

I applied back in May 2017, got through all the tests, video interview, etc. I went to an assessment centre in June 2017 and afterwards I had the same email as you basically saying I had passed the assessment centre but there were no positions for me in my area as they had gone to other candidates. I lost all hope and thought it was a nice way of them saying no. Six weeks later out the blue I got a phone call from Openreach offering me a job. On going onto training at Yarnfield most of the other trainees had received a similar email to me and weeks later had been offered positions.

Donít lose hope and donít be too downhearted, once there is a position in your area that you are suitable for, they will call you and offer you something. Youíve done massively well to pass all the tests and the assessment centre and remember Openreach are taking on 2500 new trainees this year so there are lots of positions to fill.

Well done on passing the assessment centre and good luck for the future.

That's a bummer. Did they want more detail or different examples or something? It's good that you can have another crack at it 6 months later though.

I'm almost certain they will be in contact soon to offer you a role. There's zero chance they put you through all that, pass you at the assessment centre and then forget about you. Congrats!

How did you find the assessment day then?

No idea. Just the answers were not up to standard. No more detail than that. The challenge is what to try and prepare for this time.

Yeah definitely. I'm going to try and tie every answer to the things they seem to be looking for like health and safety, customer service etc. and give it a good go.

Hi Guys,

Been lurking on this forum for some time now, its been incredibly helpful so far!

I applied last May but chickened out of the video interview which I instantly regretted, so as soon as I saw the 2018 pipeline advertised, i was back on it.

Finally got through the online sections and now been offered a position on an assessment day this coming week at South Shields, anybody else going there this week?

The test parts arnt bothering me so much, more so the interview sections of the day... dreading that!

Many thanks for any advice smile
