Its not worked out how u would think, there are areas more in demand based on customer orders/people retiring etc,so they will get those people through training firsr.u may av bin recruited for ur area but they might want one apprentice to finish first before starting another. The buddying is just who ur put with, they make out like its a select few who are put together to train and advise but its not its who wants to take someone out with them,i was lucky were i was as there is a guy of 40 years service whos not really attached to a “day” job so he took us and taught us really well as he had time,a lot do it coz theyre told to but dont really want to,dont think they have been hand selected:):)smile it doesnt make any difference to ur start date, they push as many people through and if they pass they find a role for u when it should be,ive got 50 roles here so find me 50 people,u will find people who live in 1 town driving to another town and then someone doing the opposite:):):)smile its just their way, everything seems rushed and not thought out well during your training but its just how they do it.

To be honest if you havent been told you will be calomi, they took a lot of the other roles on last year such as fibre/fvr/id so from what ive heard there wont be any more of those roles until the middle of the year when most will come off their apprenticeships. They over subscribed on the specialist roles and have 4/5 fvr lads ringing up for work everyday in the same area so dont want that to happen again but as it was first year and they had fault targets to hit with offcom they flooded areas with fvr but the work can dry up quick, the more and more they get people to swap over to fibre the more people they will need at customer end so there will be a lot of calomi this year

I had my assessment day in Cardiff on the 7th Feb got an email about midday the following day saying I had passed the assessment stage. Nothing then for a week. I emailed Réka back who I have been dealing with on the emails and she was very helpfully I now have a start date 2nd April. She did say that some of my info that I brought to the assessment day didn't come over so that's what might hold things up. I sent he an email with the missing docs and she gave me a start date within an hour of me sending the info. Might be worth sending an email to see if anything is needed to help the process along it can't hurt.

Is anyone in here also on the same start date 2nd April? If so look forward to seeing you in yarnfield then.

Had a reply back from them and have been given two options. I can either wait until June (earliest) and start in Infrastructure Delivery - Fibre Jointer OR start in Service Delivery - CALOMI in April.

Opinions?! smile

I have no idea if either of the jobs would be better. It is nice to have the option so maybe flip a coin?

Depends on your area, ID could be good as its mostly newbuilds and getting the network setup, probably decent for overtime as well.

Im sure folks with on here already on the tools will give a better answer.
