In reply to a post by lincsboy1979:
They arent bothered they want u out in it,for example today i set off at 6.15 and arrived home at 20.15 due to spending 7 hours driving in torrential snow, all they do is send u emails and texts to say stay safe, but my mate whos been on 40 years has only been told to stay home once and weve had some terrible winters in that time, stupidly they would rather u struggle like [censored] to get to a job and maybe get out and do a bit then say stay at home,u have to try and get going,if u point blank cant move then its a phone call to manager and he will sort sommats

We are completely snowed in here today. There must be a foot and a half of snow around all the cars etc. Would struggle to see how we could head to work in that.

Congrats Sim!

I just got my start date, it was originally the 9th same as you, however, my contract said the 23rd, so am 100% on the 23rd now after they checked.

Got my start date beginning of this week but told I may have to wait weeks for contract and paperwork to come through.

Is this the norm?

I will have to hand my notice in at the end of next week if im to fulfil my notice period but am a little reluctant to do so without seeing my start date on paper.

Anyone else in this situation?

To be honest mate, there's always that 'fear'
I need to hand my notice in this week, by the 8th at the latest. Now am worried when I do, my boss might just sack me off, so ill have 6 weeks unpaid, which would be a disaster.

Wait until you get your contract, only because my start date was different to what I was told on the phone, by over a week.
My incorrect start date could be a rare mistake mind.
I received my contract within 7 days of the phone call.

well, the lady said a month before the start date lol. but I got the call last Friday and received my contract on Wednesday, so 2 full working days.
You might get your tomorrow bud.

Iv done almost all the tasks as well, just not done the references, need to speak to my boss and hand in my notice first.

I am not sure if they can sack you on the spot if you hand your notice in. You must have a contract. What does that say?

Ah well, nevermind, got my contract and bits and pieces sent through an hour after posting on here so notice will be going in next friday smile

Still a couple of things Im unsure about like if Im going to Yarnfield or not as the girl on the phone said all my training and van collection will be from my local centre.

My start date is on a bank holiday Monday as well....

Got a lot of reading to do this evening!
