It would be interesting to hear from any Yarnfield first-time van drivers how they get on this week-end, with all the snow etc to contend with.

Alright mate,

They’ve stopped sending the uniform by courier because it was taking more time for them to exchange bits people had been sent than just issuing it at Yarnfield. Also couriers weren’t leaving notes if people weren’t in so some kit wasn’t turning up.

Some of the new recruits are going to have ‘recycled vehicles’ this year. Quite a few of this years intake have already been give ‘14’ plate Citroen Belingos. I think most of them have now gone though so I assume it will be back to issuing new vans again.

Berlingos:):)smile ace little vans, ive had 2 but cant c them being any good for bt,even calomi, too small, the recycled vans will only be a stop gap all the vans are getting branded with the new logo so as allways they wont b able to keep up with orders so making do,everyone will get a new one im sure as u keep it for 5 years. The issuing of gear at yarnfield is a lot better although it can be chaos in the stores, especially when they run out of specific sizes as can not carry a lot of stock

I was up at Meir stores in Stoke last week and they had about 30/40 brand new Transit Custom Jumbos for the FVR lads. Good looking bit of kit they are.

Yeah thought they looked smaller. I was comparing a Transit to my Vivaro the other day and thought mine looked bigger.

Manager will ask you to use the prove it app on your openreach phone to photo that your snowed in, and the GPS location will be saved where the photo was taken so they know your not trying to get out of going work by photoing any blocked road. Then your manager will expect you to stay at home if it is impossible to get to a job, and do NVQ work and CBT's on your laptop. (And he/she can check if you are actually doing work on your laptop while stuck at home!)

Thanks for the info, mate! Can anyone confirm if this year's intake are only doing one week at Yarnfield then? Anyone who has already started.
