Shotwell photo management

[link to this post]

I've used GQview for years. As it is no longer supported I'm thinking of moving to Shotwell.

One of the reasons holding me back was copying several hundred thousand tags from GQview but an experiment with sqlite3 showed that I could import them.

Anyone else using Shotwell? Anything else I should consider (apart from geeqie)?

Well, picasa turns out to be wine based, but I found this: http://www.h-online.com/open/features/Linux-photo-to...

eta: digikam looks like the best imo.

Sorry, didn't expect many replies so haven't been looking.

Google's picasa is a great tool but I reject any tool without import/export of tags.

GQview puts tags in text files and Shotwell has them in a simple (TagTable) importable database.

I did try to import/export tags to picasa (I think) 2 years ago but I failed.
