According to here, it should be possible but it may be missing certain features...

http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/ is your best bet, run it from a USB stick for starters to see if it handles all the hardware properly.

Why would you want to? chrome Os is pretty limited, you may as well get a full Blown Linux Distro

Then get a chrome book.

i use my laptop for mainly surfing, but I have put Mint Linux on it.

Chrome Os is so limited, and you are stuck with google rubbish.

Except I wasn't asking about a Chrome book. I can't afford to waste the money

At the end of the day it is up to one, but easier to put a full version of Linux on.
