Welcome to Darwin!
[Apple-iMacs-Computer:~] imac% sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
Password:
/usr/sbin/periodic: line 102: 1652 Bus error $file </dev/null >$tmp_output 2>&1
[Apple-iMacs-Computer:~] imac% exit

From time to time I use Terminal to housekeep my computers.
For the first time ever I have received a Terminal error message - above.

Should I be worried, and if so, what should be my next move?

Is it repeating?

Always worth doing the other housekeeping - disk util > permissions/ verify etc - to see if anything comes up.

Basically this is a memory protection error. Something has tried to access memory that it doesn't have access to - a buggy program.

You might want to look at the system log (/var/log/system.log) to see if any more details are recorded there.

Thanks for ideas.
I have now used Disk Utility to repair disk permissions.
Then tried to access system log, but was denied permission to access.

Now I have repeated using Terminal for sudo periodic runs, but this time daily, weekly then monthly as 3 separate instructions.
Seems to work OK without error message.
So I am keeping fingers crossed that all is well now.

I did stumble into Console Log, but it contained hundreds of error messages, so was not much help.

I could send it to anyone interested.

Thanks.
