I have an HTC/Qtek smart phone on Vodafone, and what I want is to have an outgoing SMTP mail server that I can use both when connected to a wi-fi hotspot, and through the Vodafone connection. Seems simple. However, Vodafone blocks IP addresses that have a spam score (spamhaus), which seems to mean, in practice, any web/e-mail host with authenticated SMTP. I have tried two hosts now, the second worked for a few months OK but has now stopped for the same reason. I did not use port 25 with either, but the alternatives offered to use in case 25 is blocked. Sending via wi-fi always works fine. Is it just Vodafone that does this? I can't believe that with the increase in mobile device use that this is considered normal. Whilst applauding anti-spam measures, this seems to be throwing the baby out with the bath water. Does anyone else experience this?
