Sticky lock key after beer splash incident

[link to this post]

Missed my mouth with the beer glass last night and splashed some beer on my phone. Wiped it off and all is OK except that lock key slider is a bit stiff and sticky.

Is it OK to try some WD40 or something else on it or should I leave well alone?

Just tried my spectacle cleaner. Seems to be freeing it up though not quite as slick as it was ... yet.

So although my mobile is still working I have just found that my MP3 player had thrown a whoopsy needing a firmware reflash and complete re-sync even though it was in a bag in another room at the time I used the spray. Spooky quantum action at a distance?

Thank you all for your continued interest and concern. I can now report that sticky key is now back to as near normal operation as before. The MP3 player is behaving itself but a bonus is that I have found that the 4GB memory card from my old mobile works in my new FM transmitter for the works van so I have put my standard collection of driving music on it. smile

Been looking at the new Nokia Lumnia 820/920 but gosh they are big in the hand and pricy. But the older 800 model looks like a good option at an affordable price for me if I do need to replace my current 5800.

A Nokia 5800 - a blast from the past!

Having moved from Symbian to Android (currently a Galaxy Nexus, previously a Nexus One) I have really come to see how badly Symbian had fallen behind in the smartphone stakes!

BT Infinity 2 - IP profile 77 / 20 - super fast!
Previously BE Unlimited - 21,000 Download 1,200 Upload but then moved house - 6,500 Down, 1Mb/s up - gutted!
Ex <n>ildram , been to SKY MAX - 15,225 Download

As long as it still does everything I need it to including the best mobile sat-nav app available I see no need to change it.
