3 dongle can't send txt messages.

I can't send txt messages from my 3 dongle, I open the 3 connect manager, type in the mobile number I want to text, ( I tried with country code & without it) compose the message, then press send. it sits in the outbox for about 30 secs then I get a red exclamation mark plus an error message, the log looks like this ... got no clue what it means ?

You are connecting to the dongle first aren't you ??
(Sorry simple question but I have seen someone do that before)

The dongle connects first and everything else works normally, browsing, emails, etc. Text messages sent to the dongle arrive instantly, just can't send any SMS outwards.

I've got an old vodafone dongle - will look it out and investigate for you

Waht type of 3 deal do you have, Pay up front, Pay as you go or contract?

Sounds like its missing the text messaging service centre number. Have a look in the settings menu (don't have mine handy). According to a Google search it should be +447782000800 ....

your right, the text messaging service centre number was missing, to enter it open the 3 connect manager, click on the SMS inbox, click on Extra, then on SMS centers, enter the name of the center (ie 3 Message Center) then enter the number +447782000800, which you were also right about ... many thanks

after u entered the message center number did u dissconnect from the dongel coz mine ist seem to work can u reply asap plz coz th emsg is urgent what i need to send

Hi NVB looks like you need a text add on !
you buy that when you top up your account, so much dosh so many outgoing texts,
no outgoing texts if you only buy a top up.
