Huawei E3256 launches on ThreeUK

[link to this post]

Mobile today are reporting that the Huawei E3256 modem has been released on ThreeUK: http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/News/22735/three_launch...

Three has starting selling Huawei's E3256 dongle, which it said is optimised for use on its HSPA+42 network.

The operator is aiming to reach more than 50% of the UK's population with its HSPA+42 service by the end of 2012.

Has anyone had a chance to try this yet?

What exactly is HPPA+42, and how would I know that I can get it ?
Don't tell me to ask in 3 shop - they haven't got a clue...!

42Mbps maximum data rate ... actual maximum throughput might be half that or less.

Still If this is enabled across the UK this would likely be better than the patchy coverage EE plan for 4G.

This is supported by the iPhone 5; "DC-HSDPA, 42 Mbps"

This relies on a connection to two cells (masts) at the same time. So you need a strong signal from two or more masts, few locations will have this luxury.

the proper name is DC-HSPA+

mite get 20mb out of it on other networks (maybe 3-8 mb on three network due to data abusers as dc-hspa+ shares hsdpa/hspa+ 21mb bandwidth)

You can also broadcast two cells from the same mast by using two blocks of 5mhz instead of one. I think this is what three are doing. So you just need to be close to one mast.
