BT Mobile - now taking orders!!

[link to this post]

Well BT Mobile is now up and running, piggy backing the EE 4G network. The plans are as follows:-

12 Month 4G Sim only, includes free BT Sport app and BT Wifi app access.
£5 discount if taken with BT Broadband.

500MB Data
200 Minutes,
Unlimited Texts,
£10 pm without Broaband.

2GB Data
500 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
£17 pm without Broadband.

20GB Data
Unlimited Texts / Mins
£25 pm without Broadband.

Has anyone taken the plunge and signed up? I'm strongly considering it, just wondered if they provide HD voice?

IIRC - All MVNOs on EE provide HD Voice when on a 3G stack (and soon for Wifi calling and VoLTE)

I would find this very unlikely as it would mean more work in the EE core and more transcoding of calls and the complications that brings with it.

Easy way to find out for sure is to get a sim and call someone on either BT Mobile or EE when both in 3G coverage and see what the audio quality is like, then nudge someone to 2G and see if the quality decreases.

Yes Virgin Media Mobile seems to not mention HD Voice but I can confirm it does exist

A call between my 4GEE iPhone and a family members Virgin Media 3G Moto G was very clear and straight away the call started with Hello.... WOW thats really clear...

But then normal calls sound 10x better on EE when you have switched from O2!

Any word on Wi-Fi calling yet and will it be available on iPhone 4S at any point in future?

Tethering working at the moment. Maybe they will block it in due course
