Put the DG Team firmware on it and it's a cracking router, wireless is good, holds sync really well, doesn't get to warm.

It's good, but you don't get tweaks etc that the dgteam firmware brings like, tweaking noise margin etc.

Yes, you do! You can tweak it using TELNET & the CLI.

Not everyone is flush with telnet and CLI commands, dgteam does make it much easer in a nice GUI.
