Configuring Buffalo WHR-G300NV2 for VPN

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I've been happily using my router for a while, but have now decided I'd like to set up VPN as I travel quite a bit.

However, I'm not too familiar with setting up VPN at router level. It's all configured on my machine on the LAN, just need to setup the router.

I've checked the userguide, but it basically repeats what can been seen on the router itself, therefore, I was hoping someone here could provide a more detailed explanation on how it's configured and screenshots would be ideal crazymileyhappy:

I've using a WHR-G300NV2, running firmware v1.82

Hoping someone can help... as I can't get any help over on the official Buffalo forums.

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi BatBoy,

I was hoping there was someone out there who could help, as I know quite a few of us use this device.

Ah sorry, I see the router provides a VPN server itself

In that case, am I just being dim?

It's just I've never set up VPN before and I'd like to be able to.

Do I either set it up on the router or the server, not both?

Sorry, this is a little new to me.

You want to connect to your home network when you're out and about? Configure the router as shown in that link, then on the roaming PC, set up a VPN dial-up connection.

Ok, everything seems to be ok, I'll just have to give it a try tomorrow to see if it works away from home.

I'll be back...

Thanks for your help BatBoy wink
