Homeplug AV2

[link to this post]

Hi Guys, I was wondering if you can help I have VM 60mb broadband and I only get around 34mb so I connected my laptop directly to the router and got around 67mb. Therefore the homeplug's I am using ( D Link 200mb ) are too slow.

I was wondering does anyone know of any homeplug av2 products. I've found these but unsure if they are AV2?

http://www.faculty-x.net/compare%20500mb+%20homeplug...

Newlink 500mbps Homeplug AV Ethernet adapters: 500mbps AV2

But when you click on the actual product nowhere does it state that it is homeplug av 2?

Like you, I have noted the tagging of products with "AV2". What you are seeing is an attempt to mislead potential customers into buying current products which are only compliant with Homeplug "AV". I believe there is more than one prominent website in the UK for the "broadband buyer" who is guilty of this.

If I was going for Homeplugs I would choose "Devolo" High transfer rate of up to 500 Mbps.

solwise released these

NET-PLV-500AV-PE_MK2

but they are a copy of the tp-link 500's that are only 10/100

Both items mentioned are still regular 500AV though.

I'm quite keen on looking for an AV2 product as there's some neat extra features in there that should help improve performance/reliability

I'm moving house from somewhere I currently have gigabit wired to many rooms... but which will be harder in new place due to decor, stories & being terraced.

For local file access you absolutely notice the faster speeds 100 Mbps+ (and that would be the best I could reasonably expect for powerline ... but I get 600 Mbps over gigabit!)

If the move gues ok I'll be reevaluating cat 5e etc, but powerline AV2 is my backup plan (or shorter term option)

with the 500mbit only 2 chipsets exist

ar7400 - gigabit lan
ar7420 - 10/100

both are flakey however the ar7420 is slighty more stable

nothing beats the 200mbit devolo's in terms of stability

anyone used the devolo 500 series powerlines?

Are they stable and better than the 200av versions
