NewNet for fibre?

[link to this post]

I have been a NewNet ADSL user since January 2006, and hopefully will get my BT cabinet enabled for fibre in September. I am considering moving to fibre broadband with Zen or NewNet (which I see has significantly revised its fibre offering).

Anybody have any views or experience to help me choose?

I'd be a bit put off by the options on the Essential package tongue.

"Compatible Fibre Optic Router required" - errrr, no! They mean a compatible cable router. Followed by:-

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

Well, I did move from NewNet ADSL to NewNet Fibre (professional) and am pleased to be achieving average speeds of 35.5 Mbps (download) and 8.1 Mbps (upload).

With professional (two year contract) NewNet provide the cable router, in my case a Netgear WNR3500L.

And I have been impressed by NewNet support since 2006.

They always were a good ISP, though not perfect on support. I used to be with them.

I was just having a dig at the wording, that's all. It's in effect the same on the Professional.

IDNet is who I'm with on FTTC. As pleased as you are, but for a comparable package to the Newnet one it is a lot more expensive.
