no talkitalki - slow broadband

[link to this post]

I am with Newnet [obviously] but my phone line provider is talktalk. My phone line went down yesterday morning - so I am not talking any more! Though to be fair they are tranferring all calls to my mobile. I am getting about 10% of my usual broadband speed.
Would be interested to know if anyone else on the Kings Norton Exchange is having problems and if there is advice for poor punters like me.

The talktalk website tells me that BT engineers are aware of the problem - why isn't that reassuring?

Although you are with Newnet, I think you need to be asking this either in General Chatter or the TalkTalk forum. The number of people on TT Phone and Newnet broadband, which is who you have just asked, has to be tiny.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 53.5/15.2Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Also did try to post it on talktalk but the 'post' button is greyed out.

On these forums? It shouldn't be. It isn't for me.

Have you clicked the link I gave, or was it before you registered?

HI Tomlee,

Any issues with your phone services will usually alsao affect your BB services.

As such the phone issue needs to be resolved first, which will likely improve the BB connection.

If you tweet us @TalkTalkCare or join the TalkTalk Members Forum we can investigate into this in more depth.

Sounds very much like a line fault or that your line has in some way been damaged, if there is no dial tone, then it could be that one leg of the copper pair is no longer connected hence slower than normal bb and no pstn
