Re: Slow Speeds - Windows Updates - Really?

It's pretty sluggish again this morning. Anyone else?

I asked them for an explanation of what happened and what has been done to prevent it happening again, but all I've had so far is the standard "it's up again now, sorry for the inconvenience". Oh dear.

It was fine here overnight and OK first thing this morning but then suddenly slowed right down around 09:30 today - very similar to what happened yesterday.

Priority for NewNet/Timico is to permanently resolve this issue but they also need to come up with a more credible explanation for their customers.

Wife has just spoken to them.

They are still having capacity problems due to updates - it gets better in the evening as people at work go home, updates continue to download when they switch on next morning. I suggested updating the network status would be helpful as there's nothing on it of use but apparently they have to get someone else to do it eyeroll. They are aiming to increase capacity so that when MS updates happen next month the service can cope.

Not too happy with that response.

No - they'll certainly need to sort this out properly once and for all - I'm losing work here and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I've not heard of an ISP having bandwidth problems just caused by routine updates since the 90s, and I'm a bit worried if they're really running that close to the limit.
