We live in McCarthy Way and found we can not work on the broadband, won't even open Google some days. Is there any news on upgrades yet?? I was thinking about satalite bb, we are trying to run a business from home but proving impossible. Have got mobile dongles but that not great either.

You *should* be syncing better than the original poster, as their line will be longer than yours. I guess you've tried all the usual stuff, in the test socket ? Different router, etc ?

As as someone with inside knowledge wink....

I had heard that the cab's around Finchampstead were due to be surveyed in March with a view to installing FFTC for September. Don't suppose you have any idea if that occurred, and if any issues may have been found?

Cheers.

Bad news for us Finchamsptead folks. I am new to the Nine Mile Ride area and can not even get BB from BT due to my long line! BT informed me today that fibre is now due in March 2012. Based on my experience with BT, I would put money on it being nearer to March 2013.

Any idea what cab will service me? I am down Heath Ride.

Cab 3 at a guess, I wasn't aware of anywhere round there that could no service what-so-ever. Did you actually get an engineer sent out ?

I guess cab 3 as well.

No engineer came out. BT said that they would only send an engineer out if there was a fault with the line (which their tests said there was not). I am pretty cheesed off with them.

And now BT are saying June 2012

My view, this isn't going to happen.

It isn't fibre optic, but I've just received a letter from Sky saying that their broadband service is now available in this area and their web-site accepted my order for an address in Gorse Ride. It will be the same ADSL over copper service over which I currently get about 2.25 Mbps, but it is much cheaper than any alternative I've found (free for the first three months then £7.50 per month) for unlimited downloads and with access to the Anytime+ service (video on demand) if the connection speed stays the same. I assume that Sky will have written to all their existing customers in the area, but I thought this might be of interest if you haven't received the letter or you're not already a Sky customer. At long, long last it seems we have some competition on the Eversley exchange.

No, it's fibre to the cabinet, and as you look around Finchampstead you'll see the fibre DSLAM cabinets appearing next to the existing street cabinets. This will mean huge improvements in speed for those who sign up to it, Sky, at the moment, still do not use this service.

Broadband switched to Sky this morning. Early speed tests look positive - 3.5 Mbps vs. 2.25 Mbps before. Not a big fan of Sky because of the Murdochs connection but the benefits of a 50% speed increase (so far) at lower monthly cost are undeniable.
