Apparetly on 21st March there was an open meeting of the Finchampstead Parish council at which a BT Openreach official (Justin Rhodes) spoke on progress on this implementation. I was not there but received an email from someone who was that reported :

1. Two of the DSLAMS that cover the area of the Hogwood Industrial Estate and Nine Mile Ride Industrial Estate at the eastern end of Nine Mile ride have been deleted as the area covered is largely commercial. Apparently there are different ways of delivering fast broadband to these premises. BT did not indicate whether the houses in this area would get an upgrade.

2. Of the 13 left a further one will be indefinitely delayed because it is difficult to site the DSLAM green cabinet within the prescribed 50m of the existing one. It is at the start of McCarthy Way.

I live on Waverley Way so not sure whether the McCarthy Way green cabinet is the one I am connected to (if anyone knows please put me out of my misery) but thought this info might be useful for others in any case.

Two results for your postcode, 98% of the lines go to cabinet 15 on Eversley which is planned for phase 8a (July-September).

1% of lines go to cab 65 on the Wokingham exchange, that cab was planned for phase 4a so should be live, you are most likely on cab 15.

THEV EVERSLEY RG404YD {THEV}{P15} 0 98% 18.44 8a Yes FTTC

THWM WOKINGHAM RG404YD {THWM}{P65} 0 1% 23.03 4a Yes FTTC

I believe this could be cabinet 15.

Thanks so much. I know I am on the Eversley exchange so it looks like it must be cabinet 15 which is very reassuring.

Thanks again

Lot's of work happening near POP9. Openreach vans have been busy at the underground junction box at the junction of Nile Mile Ride and Gorse Ride South over the last two weeks. Still no signs of civil works at the markings made on the junction on Gorse Ride South and Kelsey Ave. But still hopeful...

Hi,

Is there any chance you could look up for postcode RG40 4UA as well.

Also, if it is a space issue it would make more sense that it would be more difficult to locate cabinet 15 as opposed to 11 - not sure if anyone could clarify?

Thanks

THEV EVERSLEY RG404UA {THEV}{P11} 0 100% 29.47 8a Yes FTTC

Eversley exchange planned for FTTC in phase 8a (July to September)

http://g.co/maps/wec2e

Just found that cab, could be 11, if you check in person to see if their are any numbers?

With your second question about space issue's do you mean space on the pavement to siutate the FTTC cab?

Hi,

Many thanks for the PCP info.

With regards to the second question, I was referring to space but I guess there could be other issues. The cabinet in your link is No11 as this is marked on the side. I haven't checked in person but am pretty sure the one in your previous post to the Waverley Way questions is cabinet 15 as well.

If the cabinet not being upgraded is due to space, there is little space immediately near cabinet 15 as you have seen, it is set back into a brick wall with a relatively narrow pavement. As you can see, cabinet 11 has a bit more space around it.

However, both pcp info's suggest July-Sept implementation date so maybe they will be done - or the data has not been updated as yet?

Many thanks for your help

Regarding Cabinet 11 on McCarthy Way. I just spoke to an Open Reach guy who was working on it and asked if he knew about the upgrade. Unfortunately he didn't but did state that cab 11 was one that should be given priority because it uses a lot of aluminum cabling and was always causing them problems. He said that, from appearance, there was no reason he could see why a cabinet could not be placed well within the required distance - he said there was a 240 volt supply and ample room to put it - he did however say that councilors decide if a new cabinet could be placed so maybe they have thrown a spanner in the works??

I only hope that it does get sorted - I will be so annoyed if it doesn't happen - cannot put up with my low bandwidth and unreliable ADSL connection much longer!!
