Suppliers wanted for scheme on the Gower

[link to this post]
The Gower Broadband Community Group is an active local group of volunteers, which is planning to facilitate the provision of a greatly improved broadband service for the Gower exchange (01792 39xxxx). This exchange currently has BT ADSL, but suffers from very long lines lengths, such that many premises have extremely slow speeds, or in some cases no broadband service at all. We would like to hear from potential suppliers who can offer solutions fitting these requirements:

To maximise the broadband speeds for the whole exchange area. We accept that exact speeds will vary, but would expect at least 4 Mbps for remote properties with 20-40 Mbps to be available to most.

To provide the maximum potential for future speed upgrades, including FTTP where and when feasible.

To offer a range of speed, services and prices to cover the range of potential subscribers, from low volume domestic users, to a number to a number of high speed businesses.

We are in the process of collecting and coordinating Welsh Assembly Government broadband support grant application forms, which will provide considerable funding in the near future, and the project is also eligible for other grant funds. Given the geography of the area, and the wish to provide upgrade paths, we consider that wireless solutions are unlikely to be suitable, and have been looking at FTTC/FTTP, but are open to open to alternative suggestions.

Further details, including approximate BT cabinet distributions are available on the website at:
