Poor choice of Broadband in Chineham

[link to this post]

I live in Chineham, Basingstoke and I am finding that my choices for broadband seem to be quite limited which means I cannot benefit from a lot of the deals.

As an example, although O2 covers chineham, they are unable to offer their 'All rounder' deal as they say they have to install additional equipment to cover my area.

Why is it that Chineham is so poorly covered? The speed is also quite low (max 2mb).

Would hardly call it poor.

Sky LLU is available, fibre services are available as we see people posting 60Mbps and faster speed tests on that exchange. West of the Chineham exchange has Virgin Media available too.

TalkTalk LLU looks like it is available too.

I live just off Thornhill way.
Spoke to Sky just this morning and they have confirmed that they cannot provide broadband to my line. Virgin is not available here.

Here are the results of BT broadband availability checker:

Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 512Kbps. However, due to the length of your line, an engineer visit may be required, who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 1Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 750Kbps and 2.5Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL2+ broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 512Kbps. However, due to the length of your line, an engineer visit may be required, who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 1Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 1Mbps and 3.5Mbps. ............

What exchange are you looking at?
When I look at the chineham exchange on samknows, the results say adsl max and sdsl only. No LLU, FTTC, FTTP.

LLU assumptions were based on some speed results posted on maps.thinkbroadband.com

Which also shows some good FTTC speeds around the junction of Hanmore Road and Tangway. The exchange is down by the Popley Fields Community Centre, and south of there the Virgin network starts.

In which case if Sky denies having a LLU presence, the Sky customers may be using Sky Connect in the area.

Which part of Thornhill Way, as it winds a long way

and cabinet P66 in the area is on the rollout plans for FTTC services. Test postcode RG24 8YE

Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 2Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 1Mbps and 3.5Mbps.

Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 31st December 2012. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed between 35.5 to 57.4 Mbps and upstream line speed between 6 to 20 Mbps.

That also says FTTC is not available, if so how do we have speedtests of 53 Meg down, 7Meg up from Plusnet?
Also the checkers show that WBC is available, which SamKnows does not list smile

That postcode is served by Basingstoke not Chineham.
