A Slow service from whom?

[link to this post]

Just joined after visiting the Not Spots and Slow Spots map page.

As a company, we are able to get 4mb + into a lot of the areas in North Wales that are marked as having a low or non existent service. To try and be impartial, I am also aware of other, non BT companies who can get you 4Mb + in some of these locations.

Does this mean that the map will be altered, or is it a purely a BT bashing map?

Would be interested in some feedback

I dont think you can rely on the accuracy of the data supplied on that map.

My father lives a few blocks away from his nearest telephone exchange, and has always had the maximum speeds available on adsl max and now adsl2+. According to the data on that map, his telephone exchanges location is a notspot which is completely false.

This is the joy of crowd sourcing data.

maps.thinkbroadband.com can support layers from different providers and is open to all to have their data on it.

The speeds from point topic could do with updating, they pre-date FTTC and many recent ADSL2+ enabled exchanges.

That reminds me I need to get a full post code list to you, got the list ready it just needs formatting and all putting in one .csv wink

I think keeping those Point Topic speeds would be OK, just needs labelling as ADSL/ADSL2+ and if they have a different layer available for FTTC then we can add those estimates.

It would require non-BT (retail) users to take the speedtests I think.

While I'm sure TBB don't go in for 'bashing', if there's any to be done they don't limit it to BT. smile
