slow sky connect

[link to this post]

I'm having incredibly poor peak speeds from newly aquired Sky Connect, speeds weren't this poor with Plus net, any suggestions how I can get them to speed me up? peak speeds are usually <1mbs

Sky Connect has a bad reputation for slow speeds but need to check

1. Is the slow speeds showing as slow speed tests in the evening, but good during the day

OR

2. Slow connection speed, i.e. speed shown by router, if not sure, dig out connection speed, attenuation and SNR (Noise Margin) figures from the router.

1. Ask sky.

2. Look up your exchange http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search and post which it is

Sky likely tell you soon, best measured with a length string. Size matters of exchange in a lot of cases, keep a eye on samknows.

not promising, no LLU at all. Although Sky are just down the road in Werrington the size of your exchange doesn't bode well - but they did do mine with 2100 lines EMWSFRD

any ideas why we didn't see such a difference when we were with Plusnet? I'd complained about speeds to them & they said they found a stuck speed profile & did a reset & things improved but I mentioned this to Sky & they said there was nothing they could do, I can't understand why it was better with Plusnet when for all intents & purposes it should be the same supply shouldn't it, just pay a different company?
